BSF holds blood donation camp

Tura: On the eve of BSF Golden jubilee celebration a blood donation camp was organised at Danakgre BSF campus in Tura by the troops of 132 Bn BSF and 183 Bn BSF on Friday.

The blood donation camp was inaugurated by former BSF Inspector General (Retd) RK Thakur. During the camp 60 Officers and men donated blood. The efforts of BSF officials had been lauded by the bloodbank officials for selfless service in saving precious human lives.

Former IG RK Thakur while addressing the Men praised the tradition of BSF as not only safeguarding the national frontiers but also  serving the cause of humanity.

Cattles seized

Our reporter adds: BSF troops deployed at East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya seized 38 cattle worth Rs. 3,15,400 on international border  while being smuggled from Nayabazar area to Bangladesh.

BSF troops had laid ambush after receiving input about possibility of smuggling.

In another incident, BSF troops deployed at East Jaintia Hills district observed few Bangladeshi smugglers trying to smuggle some items from India to Bangladesh side. The troops challenged the smugglers and rushed towards the spot.

Subsequently, thecriminals fled towards Bangladesh and after a search of the area, the party seized one horse, 500 oranges and two Daws near Rajai area.

All the seized items were handed over to the concerned department for further legal action.
