SHILLONG: An FIR was filed against one Syendro Sawkmie, the PDS Dealer of Wahlyngngia Village, which falls under Mawphlang Block, and Jlandar Ryntathiang, Headman of Wahlyngngia Village who have allegedly connived to cheat the government and the public at large, by inflating the population and households to increasing the quota of rice, wheat and sugar for their own benefits.
According to the FIR lodged by Agnes Kharshiing, the manipulation would not have been possible without the knowledge of the Gramsevak who should be visiting the households to find out deserving candidates for the ration cards.
According to an RTI report filed by a resident of the village, it was noticed that several families have two or three ration cards and most of them were not aware of this fact as they do not have the cards in their possession.
