Roads inaugurated in Ri Bhoi village

NONGPOH: It was a special moment for residents of Umsawnongbri village in Ri Bhoi district on Monday when Chief Adviser to the State Government and Nongpoh MLA D.D Lapang inaugurated two important motorable roads – one constructed under the Centrally-sponsored MGNREGS while the other was built out of contributions made by all the villagers.

The programme was witnessed by BDO, Umling C&RD Block, George Marboh, in the presence of Umsawnongbri village adviser Rev. B.R. Pamshong, official from Soil & Water Conservation department, H.S. Kharpran, PWD Engineer J. Lakiang and Umsawnongbri Rangbah Shnong D.R. Mawphniang, besides others.

3 km of the road was funded under the MGNREGS while 4 km of the road connecting Kbet Nongbri to Umphing village was constructed with the help of money contributed by the villagers.

Lapang lauded the efforts of the village authority and the villagers for shouldering the task of constructing the road that will bring development to the village.

He assured that he would take initiative to provide the village with an auditorium, better internal roads, a public health centre and a children’s park.
