Continuous disregard of No Entry regulation
SHILLONG: Irked with the continuous violation of no entry by vehicles along the Civil Hospital and Barik junction, East Khasi Hills police has warned that the police would now register FIR cases against anyone who violates the no entry rule.
The warning came from the SP M Kharkrang after police conducted surprise late night checking along the route and found that many people violated the no entry rule.
“So far, we have been filing non-FIR cases and imposing fine on violators but now, we will register FIR cases against such vehicles.” he said.
Police, for the past few week detected almost fifty such cases and even imposed fine on such violators.
The move from the Shillong police came as many road accidents have taken place at that particular stretch due to violation of the no entry rule.
On the over loading of local taxis, he also reiterated that people should come forward and lodge complaint against any such local cabby.
“We often read in papers people complaining about the over loading but they never oppose when the local taxis are over loaded,” he said.
He also requested the public not to park their vehicles illegally since this is a festive season and traffic jams are bound to occur during the festive season.
Meanwhile, it was seen on busy Saturday evening that many local cabbies were not willing to pick up passengers at Khyndailad and thereafter few traffic personnel intervened and forced the drivers to pickup the passengers.
