One dead, two injured in separate motor accident

NONGSTOIN: In an unfortunate road mishap, a person identified as Jenes Marshillong (40) was crushed to death while his son luckily escape after they were run over by a coal-laden truck at Wahriat bridge in Nongstoin on Saturday at 2.15 pm.

Eye witnesses informed that the driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, was driving his truck (ML05 F7717) in a reckless manner leading to the mishap. After running over the 40 year-old man, the driver fled from the scene leaving the truck at the scene.

The driver of the truck is yet to be identified. Jenes Marshillong died on the spot while his son luckily escaped from the accident.

In another accident in Shillong, one fire tender Truck (ML-02-0706) driven by DFM George S Marak collided with one Maruti Alto car (ML-04B-0888) driven by Don Thamai near Bawri Netralaya, Boucher Road on December 12 around 8:30 pm.

As a result the driver and one occupant of the Alto car sustained injuries and were removed to Civil Hospital Shillong.
