Inauguration
To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Synod College, a building on the College premises will be inaugurated on December 19 by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in the presence of Health and IT Minister AL Hek and other distinguished invitees.
Programme
Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society, which is the nodal agency for implementing NRLM in the State, will organize the 1st CRP round in the resource blocks of Mairang, Rongram and Dalu on Dec 19 at the State Convention Centre, Shillong from 11 am.
Cleaning drives
The Dorbar Shnong Mission Compound, Shillong will conduct a cleaning drive on Dec 20 from 7am onwards. A no entry through the locality will be imposed till 11am.
The Dorbar Shnong Madanrting will organise a cleaning drive on the Dec 18 from 8am onwards. All shop keepers and shop owners will have to close their shops and take part in the cleaning drive. Vehicles will not be allowed to be parked in the area during the cleaning drive.
Prohibition
For the smooth repair work of pavement under the 13th Finance Commission at 1st and 2nd Km of Lad Mukhla-Nangbah-Kyndong Tuber, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, has promulgated prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of all trucks along the said route till January 25, 2015.
Dry days
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, has declared Dry Day on December 25, 26 on account of Christmas Festival and on January 1, 2015 on account of New Year in the entire district. All IMFL stores, bars, canteens and country spirit stalls will remain closed on these dates.
Unclaimed body
An unknown male person was found lying unconscious at the footpath near Anjalee Parking Lot on December 13 and he was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital where he expired on the same day. The relatives are requested to approach the police or Shillong Civil Hospital for identification.
Motor rally
Kamalesh Das (driver) and Abhik Das (navigator) from Meghalaya recently won the third prize in the ‘Endurance Challenge 1’, a two-day motor rally event in Mokokchung, Nagaland.
