Ahaia winter festival concludes

Tura: The Ahaia Winter Festival 2014 concluded here on Friday evening with a Peace Concert at Dikki-Bandi Stadium, Dakopgre where the internationally acclaimed rock group – Girish and the Chronicles enthralled the 10,000 strong crowd with their electrifying performance.

Attending the concluding night as the chief guest, Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma was impressed by the festivities in Garo Hills and announced to the gathering that an international music festival would be hosted in Tura next year.

In his brief address, Dr Sangma said that Tura had the potential to host the international music festival and called upon all concerned to start preparations on organizing the event.

“The Government is making all efforts to promote music in the State and we will lay the foundation for international standard music academies in Shillong and Tura next year”, he informed.

Other highlights of the day included the dance and musical instruments competitions, which gave the locals an opportunity to showcase their talents.
