Itanagar:The BJP on Saturday demanded the state government to act fast to resolve the stalemate on the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leakage incident so that the future of aspirants are not jeo-pardised.
“The government sho-uld made public the magisterial enquiry report along with the action taken report so that the issue is resolved amicably and the candidates can plan accordingly to sit in the exam,” senior BJP leader and former MP Tapir Gao said during a Press conference here on Saturday.
The reported leakage of a question paper (General Studies Paper-II) in the APPSCCE Main exam held on September last had snowballed into a major controversy after the candidates protested which forced the Commission to cancel the examination indefinitely.
The state government had constituted a commit-tee headed by Naharlagun extra assistant commis-sioner Hento Kena to con-duct the enquiry and submit the report within two weeks.
Gao said, the state government should not play with the career of the stu-dents and should resolve the issue at the earliest.Alleging that the state government was not serious on the imbroglio, the BJP leader demanded the government to act to bring back the lost glory of the Commission by appointing an IAS officer as its permanent secretary.
“Efforts should be initiated to make APPSC strong with special budgetary provisions. Our legislators will raise the issue in the forthcoming winter session of the assembly,” he said.
Gao also criticised the five PPA MLAs who merged with the Congress yesterday saying that they have cheated the people who voted them to power.
BJP Arunachal Pradesh unit President Tai Tagak criticized the state govern-ment for cancelling the scheduled Chopper service to Tawang on December 18 last without any reasons.
Tagak along with Gao was supposed to go to the border district to attend a party meeting.”The govern-ment should come out clearly on the reasons for cancellation of the passen-ger service as there was no VIP requisition,” he said alleging, “it could be a sabotage by the govern-ment to prevent the BJP leaders from attending the important meeting.”
Tagak claimed that the party had already enrolled over 25,000 members in its ‘membership maha abhiyan’ launched in the state since November 15 last.
“Our target is to enroll one lakh members till March 31 next,” he said and appealed the people to join the party’s fold to build a strong India.Meanwhile, CEO of The Eastern Sentinel, English daily from the state, Jarpum Gamlin today formally joined the BJP during the press conference. Jarpum hails from a family whose two siblings – former chief minister Jarbom Gamlin and Jarkar Gamlin are from the Congress. While Jarbom died at a private hospital in Gurgaon last month, Jarkar is currently a minister of the Nabam Tuki government.
Talking to media, Jarpum disclosed that his joining to the BJP was purely his personal philosophy and preference.”I will extend my support to the party and shoulder all responsibilities entrusted on me with utter devotion and dedication.
When asked whether his paper would serve as the mouthpiece of the party, he categorically said that he would soon resign from all positions he held in the paper so that the publication would continue to serve the purpose as the ‘voice of the people’.
“The DNA of my paper will not be diluted at any cost and it will continue to remain as the mouthpiece of the people,” he added. (PTI)
