Agartal:a:Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has been accused of delay in responding to the proposal of Waris finance, a Non Banking Financial Company (NBFC) to refund the depositors money by selling out the property of the company in Tripura.

Leader of the opposition Sudip Roy Barman here today alleged that Waris chief had written to Chief Minister Sarkar on Nov 4 last proposing to appoint a receiver for repayment of the depositors’ money by realizing the property established in the state by Waris.

“Unfortunately, even after one and half months of the proposal of the company, the state government did not take any action to safeguard the interest of the investors rather Chief Minister attempted to ignore the communication,” Mr Barman alleged.

He however, stated that unwillingness of Chief Minister to attach the property of Waris, estimated about Rs 75 lakh in Tripura and a few hundred crore rupees in outside the state clearly indicated that he and his party has some interests in depriving the depositors.

“Not only is the Waris, in all the NBFCs business in Tripura top leaders of CPI-M directly involved and they cadres were helped the companies to expand their business in the remote villages and collected crore of rupees from innocent poor people promising hefty return in short term. But now when a company wanted to pay back the money, Chief Minister wanted to do the deal secretly,” he alleged.

However, Chief Minister’s secretariat responding to the allegation stated that immediately after receiving the letter from Waris, it was sent to Chief Secretary for necessary initiative. Earlier, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee had demanded interrogation of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in multi-crore Sarada scam.

The party had alleged Sarkar was involved in promotion of NBFCs in the state.

The party alleged that about Rs 5000 Cr has been looted out the NBFCs from Tripura where only Rose Valley and Waris Finance has accounted about Rs 900 crore and added Sarada Chief SSen had sent a gift vat of white kurta for Sarkar at the beginning of it’s business in the state in 2009.

Also Sarkar had attended the anniversary program of Sen’s newspaper Sakalbela Agartala edition and appreciated Sarada group openly, which has encouraged the investors, the party alleged. “Prior to that Sarkar had a meeting with Kunal Ghosh and the photographs were also used by Sarada group as promotional text of the company to lure the investors,” Barman said and added if West Bengal Minister Madan Mitra was detained by CBI only because he had attended Sarada’s program why should Manik Sarkar not be booked.
