SHILLONG: The compl-etion of the permanent building of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) in Lachumiere is set to be delayed.
Indicating this, official sources on Tuesday said that the construction of the permanent building of the commission has just started even though the foundation stone of the same was laid by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in August, 2011.
According to official sources, the construction of the building could not be started immediately since the State Government was unable to arrange the required fund for the purpose on time.
“The project was finally sanctioned in 2013,” official sources.
Informing that the initial deadline to complete the project was March, 2014, sources said that the same has now been rescheduled to April, 2016.
“A total of Rs 6.4 crore has been earmarked for the project. But there might an escalation due to the delay,” official sources said.
With the completion of the new MPSC building and with better infrastructure, other government departments can also arrange to conduct their examinations in the new building, even during working days.
