Guwahati: The state BJP unit in Assam has dared Gogoi to take legal course prove his allegation of nexus between the militant NDFB-S and two BJP MPs from the state during the

last Lok Sabha polls.

Accusing Gogoi of resorting to ‘dirty politics’, state BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya said that failing to tackle the law and order and insur-gency problem in the state chief minister Tarun Gogoi was trying to defame BJP before the people of Assam.

The state BJP chief said, “If Gogoi who also holds the home portfolio, has proof of nexus between two BJP MPs and the NDFB-S then why he hasn’t placed the evidence before the High Court or the Election Commission? Still, he can submit the same to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that is going to probe the recent massacre of Adivasis by the

NDFB-S as well as nexus between the militant group and ant third force.”

“But instead of taking recourse to legal means, Gogoi has resorted to vilification campaign against the BJP to mislead the people of Assam,” the BJP chief said reminding Gogoi of his responsibility to rehabilitate and aid the violence-displaced people adequa-tely as desired by the Central government.

The State BJP unit had demanded imposition of President’s Rule in Assam in the wake of the massacre of Adivasis by the NDFB-S militants.

The BJP alleged that law and order situation in the state had nosedived recently because of inept handling of the situation by Tarun Gogoi led Congress government. This prompted Gogoi to go belligerent against the state BJP.
