MUPSTA demands release of enhanced pay

TURA: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association (MUPSTA) recently submitted a memorandum to Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and Literacy, WD Sangma demanding the release of enhanced Grant-in-Aid for the 844 teachers of Improved and Adhoc Primary Schools in the State.

According to the MUPSTA a proposal was made to enhance the salaries of Assistant Teachers from Rs 8000/- to Rs 9900/- per month and Rs 9000/- to Rs 11000/- per month for Head Teachers which should have come into effect from January1, 2014.

Further, it claimed that an assurance was also given by the Parliamentary Secretary himself to release the enhanced salary as early as possible.
