ASAK militant surrenders

TURA: A hardcore militant belonging to the ASAK outfit surrendered in Tura on Wednesday with arms.The militant identified as Breni Ch Marak (23) hails from Oragitok area on the foothills of Nokrek national park under Rongram police outpost.

He surrendered at Tura police station and handed over a 7.65 pistol with two magazines containing eight live rounds and a wireless communication handset.
The surrendered militant was part of a group of cadres operating in the northern region of Garo Hills under militant commander identified as Khatep.
The ASAK outfit was formed by a group of GNLA militants who broke away from Sohan D Shira following disagreements. The group is led by former GNLA finance secretary Reding T Sangma.
