Kohima:Amid an ongoing political crisis within ruling NPF, Nagaland Chief Minis-ter T R Zeliang on Wednes-day said that it should be the party’s utmost priority to provide the people with a stable government in repay for giving them an absolute mandate to run the affairs of the state.
“It is unfortunate that some disgruntled elements within the NPF legislators have taken their self-interest above the people’s welfare and have been brazenly trying to victimise the people by attempting to disrupt the smooth sailing of the duly-elected Govern-ment,” Zeliang said reacting to the crisis within the ruling Naga People’s Front-led DAN government.
He said that elected members should know that the ultimate victim of the fallout of the unstable government is the common man.
Zeliang yesterday faced an open rebellion with dissident NPF legislators claiming they have elected a new leader following which he sacked two ministers who were also suspended with five other MLAs from primary membership of ruling Naga People’s Front.
As a leader of the DAN-III legislatures’ party, Zeliang reiterated that his prime objective is to provide stable government in the state so that the citizens progress and prosper without any disturbance.
Leadership cannot be imposed upon the people nor should be purchased, he said while asserting that he would not bow down nor allow the NPF party to succumb to the pressure tactics and psychological game plan of some members who are out to betray the people’s trust. (PTI)
