Arunachal action plan to contain insurgency

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh police has made an action plan to check insur-gency in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts through various initiatives, including setting up 11 new police stations and upgra-ding the existing nine. Besides, 1769 posts have been filled up in the police department for the three insurgency-affected districts, Assistant Inspec-tor General of Police (AIGP) Tussar Taba told reporters here on Friday.The department also procured 313 5.56 INSAS rifles, 158 9mm pistols, 40 2’mortars, 33 7.62 LMgs and over two lakh AK-47 ammu-nitions during 2014, the AIGP said adding, 28 night vision devices, 20 video cameras, 23 digital cameras and other gadgets were procured for the districts during the year.(PTI)
