SHILLONG: ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam celebrated its 41ST Foundation Day on Friday. Speaking on the occasion Dr. DN Borthakur, Founder Director, ICAR RC NEH recalled the initial years of struggle when ICAR was at a growing stage.He also praised the scientists “who have devoted years of research to take ICAR to the level it has reached today.”Dr. KM Bujharbaruah, Vice Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat, who chaired the Foundation Day function said that the “ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region has travelled a long distance in the last 40 years.”
During the programme, two awards started by the Institute, Prof. MS Swaminathan National Award for Outstanding Research on Hill Agriculture and Dr. DN Borthakur Regional Award, for Outstanding Research on Farming Research System were won by Dr. Jai Chand Rana, Principal Scientist of NBPGR Regional Station, Himachal Pradesh and Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka and his team from ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre respectively.
