Four women Maoists surrender in Odisha

Malkangiri :Four women Maoists, carrying rewards of up to Rs four lakh on their heads, surrendered before the police here on Saturday, police said. The women cadres identified as Jhine Padiami alias Rita, Walla Gangi alias Sakila, Kuma Khila and Singe Padiame alias Mase, surrendered in presence of Inspector General of Odisha Police (IG), Yashwant Jethwa, BSF IG A K Sharma and Malkangiri Superintendent of Police, Mitrabhanu Mohapatra. The cadres were members of Kalimela and Baipariguda Dalam of the outlawed CPI(Maoist) and active in naxal activities for five to eight years, Jethwa said. While Jhina carried a reward of Rs four lakh on her head, Walla carried Rs one lakh reward. They would be rehabilitated as per the state government package for surrendered Maoists, Jethwa said. Meanwhile, Jethwa said that he along with Sharma had visited the cut-off area along the Balimela reservoir to inspect the area of recent Police-Maoist encounter where at least seven ultras were suspected to have been killed. However, the bodies were yet to be recovered. Asked about the bodies, he said that Maoists generally bury the bodies and never allow them to be taken by the police. (PTI)

Three prisoners escape from police lockup

Munger:Three alleged criminals on Saturday escaped from a police station lockup in Munger district of Bihar prompting the police to launch a manhunt. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Kumar Singh said the incident happened at Naya Ram Nagar police station during the wee hours and the three persons escaped after breaking open the lock of the cell they were lodged in. “The three have been identified as Santosh Singh, Jogi Kumar and Bhutto Singh. They had been arrested last night from Nauagarhi area under Naya Ram Nagar police station for possessing two unlicensed pistols and ammunition,” Singh said. The ASP said the three are residents of Sita Kund area in the district and are wanted in several cases of murder, dacoity and burglary. “Our teams are conducting continuous raids to nab them. We are also probing the incident to find out lapses on the part of the police,” he added. (PTI)
30-yr-old woman’s body recovered from South Delhi
New Delhi:The body of a 30-year-old woman was recovered on Saturday morning from a DDA nursery in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area here with the police suspecting that she was killed after being gang raped. The incident came to light around 8:20 AM when a security guard informed the police about the body. “The body of the woman was found in the bushes of the nursery with her hands and legs tied while her cloths were in a disheveled condition,” said a police official. The woman had left from home On Friday morning around 9:30 AM for work. However, when she did not return till late evening her family members launched a search and also informed the police. “Prima facie it seems that she was killed after being gang raped but the exact cause of death and whether she was sexually assaulted or not will be clear only after post-mortem,” he added. 2 priests booked for murder  of three youths

Mathura:Two priests have been booked for allegedly killing three youths, whose bodies were found in a ‘yagya shala’ near Bankey Bihari temple here, police said today. The accused identified as Anand Kishore Goswami and Jugal Kishore Goswami have been booked for killing Aakash, Kalyan and Manoj, aged between 20-25, who were found dead on Friday, SHO, Vrindavan police station Akhilesh Tripathi said. A ‘yagya shala’ is a place where havans are performed. Aakash and Manoj were Dalits, the SHO said adding that a case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC and relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 has been registered against the accused. Efforts are on to nab the accused, who have fled with their families, he said. (PTI)
