TURA: The All A’chik Youth Federation (AAYF) has slammed the State Government for repeatedly extending the current term of the GHADC. The AAYF said that the government was acting in violation of the provisions of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the federation pointed out that the repeated extension of the term would in no way bring improvement to the District Council but affect its smooth functioning. It demanded that the extension be immediately revoked making way for the holding of elections as early as possible.
The federation also urged the opposition in the GHADC and other NGOs of Garo Hills to put pressure on the State Government to revert its decision.
