Opp meets today to decide on Jan 16 meet

SHILLONG: Opposition parties in the State will meet on Thursday to take a final call to whether to attend the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on January 16.
“We will meet tomorrow to take a final call on attending the all-party meeting,” UDP working president Bindo M Lanong told newsmen here on Wednesday.
Lanong also informed that the government has sent its clarification on the proposed amendments to the Sixth Schedule sought for by the Opposition parties.  Divulging details of the letter received from the government, Lanong said that the agenda of the all-party meeting is to discuss the proposed amendments to the Sixth Schedule and the points proposed by the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister has invited all stakeholders including political parties and traditional chiefs to attend the all-party meeting on January 16 to discuss the proposed amendments to the Sixth Schedule which is likely to be tabled in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament.
