Several die in road rash

SHILLONG: A series of road accidents have been reported from across the State in the last couple of days resulting in the loss of several lives.
On January 15 a truck (AS-01CC-9072) driven by Abdul Basir knocked down two minors, Tinshailang Rynjah (14) and Jefferson Mawthoh (16) at Mawryngkneng. The victims sustained injuries and were removed to Woodland Hospital and Civil Hospital, Shillong, respectively.
In another incident on January 14 a truck (BR-27C-5008) driven by Md. Islam Ali, fatally knocked down Marius Swer (84) at Khliehriat Bazar. Another accident took place on January 14 when a vehicle knocked down one Sengchand D. Sangma (16) at Rari, (NGH).  The victim was removed to PHC Rari, where he succumbed to his injuries the day after.
Earlier, on January 13, one truck (AS-18-9140) driven by Md. Saidul Ali (25) dashed against another stationary truck (AS-01BC-3992) at Koilaghat, Shyamding (WGH) killing its handyman on the spot.
