1st MLP win in Shillong Cricket League

Shillong:1st MLP defeated Malki SC by a better run rate in the league match of the First Division Shillong Cricket League  at the SCA Cricket Ground, Polo.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss 1st MLP scored 141 runs losing all the wickets in 34 overs. Pawan Chettri scored 44 runs of 71 balls. And Kumar Sewa scored 20 runs of 23 balls. While Manish A. Sangma and Nick Dann claim 3 wickets for 27 runs and 29 runs.
In reply, Malki SC could only scored 130 runs for the loss of 9 wickets when rain interrupted the match. Banri Kharmalki scored 28 runs of 29 balls. And Hitesh Kr. Kushwaha 26 runs of 56 balls. While Morningstar Khongwir took 5/22 runs of 8 overs. and Pawan Chettri took 2/25 runs of 2.7 overs.

Young Boys win tennis ball cricket tourney

SHILLONG: Young Boys won the 5th tennis ball cricket tournament organised by the Young Guns Sports and Cultural Club, Upper Mawprem here on Saturday.
Young Boys beat All Brothers by six wickets to win the final of the tournament. Young Boys chased down the 40-run target set by their opponents in the 10th over with two overs to spare.
Shillong Cantonment Board CEO L Harshel and Ward Member handed over the prizes to the winning and the runners-up team. The winners took home a cash prize of Rs 10000, while the runners-up were given Rs 5000.

Sindhu, Jayaram bow out of Malaysia GPG

Kuching:It turned out to be a bad outing for Indian shuttlers in the the USD 120,000 Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold as PV Sindhu and Ajay Jayaram lost their respective women’s and men’s singles semi-finals here on Saturday. Two-time World Championship bronze medallist, Sindhu, was shown the door by Japan’s Okuhara Nozomi 19-21 21-13 21-18, before Jayaram lost his match to Korea’s Hyeok Jin Jeon 10-21 21-17 21-16. Sindhu’s match lasted 84 minutes while Jayaram’s contest lasted 57 minutes. Jayaram, who clinched the Dutch Open last year, yesterday saw off Malaysia’s Daren Liew 21-16 21-23 21-8 in a gruelling contest.Sindhu had yeasterday defeated Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, seeded fifth, 23-21 21-9.
