Arunachal boy to get Bravery award

Itanagar:14-year-old Rumoh Meto has been selected for the National Bravery Award, 2014, for rescuing his cousin caught in a live wire in Arunachal Pradesh, an official communiqué said here on Tuesday.A standard IX student of a government school at Roing in Lower Debang Valley district, Rumoh freed his 24-year-old cousin Milu Mega caught in a 33-KV high voltage transmission live wire in November last, it said. Mega suffered burns but Rumoh was relatively unhurt.”The award will inspire me throughout my life to excel better and work for my nation and fellow brothers,” Rumoh said. (PTI)
4 killed, 5 injured in vehicle accident in Arunachal
Itanagar: Four people were killed on the spot and five injured when their Suv fell into a deep gorge near Nichiphu in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. According to SP, the vehicle was on way to Bomdila from Itanagar with nine passengers, including the driver, rolled down into 200-300 metre deep gorgeon Monday evening. Four people died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals. The rescue operation was launched this morning as darkness and thick fog had prevented the start of rescue operations last night, police sources informed. (UNI)

441 ILP violators deportedfrom Arunachal

Itanagar:Altogether 441 Inner Line Permit (ILP) violators have been identified and deported from seven police station areas in West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh in the past fortnight, an official release said here on Tuesday. Bhalukpong police station recorded the highest with 253 violators followed by Balemu with 150, it said. Incidentally, the two places are the entry points to the district from neighboring Assam. All the 441 ILP violators were deported from the district, the release added. (PTI)

Dimapur police recovers explosives ahead of Republic Day

Kohima:The Dimapur police has arrested one person with a huge quantity of explosives, suspected to be use for seditious activities, especially in Nagaland and Assam, ahead of Republic Day. According to a statement issued by Dimapur police on Tuesday, explosives and other materials from one Granil Abor of Assam on January 15 from the Dimapur Railway station.The police had also recovered 800 gelatin sticks, 1,800 SOD detonator fuse and 40 rolls of fuse wire (Approximately 35 feet each) from him. The Officer-in-Charge of GRPS, Dimapur, has ordered an investigation in the matter.(UNI)

Over 22,000 dogs given anti rabies vaccine in Manipur

Imphal:Manipur government has administered over 22,000 dogs with anti rabies vaccine to check outbreak of the disease. State Veterinary officials said the vaccines are given free of cost and more consignments are likely to reach the state within the next 24 hours. State Chief Secretary Lawmkunga has also appealed to all to keep all dogs inside their houses. There is no testing facility in the state hence samples of dogs collected from different parts of the state have been sent to Veterinary College , Hebbal, Bangalore . (UNI)

15 grams of heroin seized

Aizawl:Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department seized 15 grams of heroin from a man from Bawngkawn locality here, the department’s spokesman on Tuesday said.Kaineihchuaii (45) of Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai town was arrested in this connection yesterday and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.(PTI)
