Margao: Injury-hit Salgaocar FC will find the going tough against a highly-motivated Royal Wahingdoh when the two sides clash on Friday in the second round of the Hero I-League, played at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Margao.
The youngsters from Meghalaya made a dream start to their I-League campaign winning their opening match by beating Shillong Lajong 2-1.
They played an attractive game moving the ball with bustling speed from the flanks with Jackichand Singh and Seityasen creating panic in the rival defense.
Densil Theobald has controlled the midfield remarkably and combined well along with Bekay Bewar, Jackichand Singh and Satiyasen Singh to pose a constant threat to the rival defense.
Salgaocar, who looked far from impressive in the midfield against Pune FC, will have to keep their rivals in check and halt their free-flowing short passes if they are to emerge winners.
A lot will depend on Douhou Pierre and Rocus Lamare to steer the attack. Defender Francis Ksaonde and Augustin Fernandes have, meanwhile, done well along with keeper Subrata Paul.
Both the sides, however, go into the match with injuries to key players. Royal Wahingdoh defender Loveday Enyinnaya has suffered a rib injury while striker Bekay Bewar has a knee injury.
While Saran Singh, who suffered an abdominal strain in the last match, is unlikely to be fit for tomorrow’s match and adds to an already long injury list that includes striker Darryl Duffy, Dawson Fernandes, keeper Karanjit Singh and Umesh Harijan. (PTI)
