SSSU celebrates 25-year journey

Shillong: The Seng Samla Shnong Umpling led by its dynamic president Kynsai Jones Sanglyne celebrated the closing function of their Silver Jubilee on Saturday last.
In its 25 years of existence the SSSU the organization has taken up several projects such as running sanitation trucks for garbage collection in the locality in 2006.
This was subsequently handed over to the Dorbar Shnong Umpling.
The SSSU also conducted the local population survey for a better social-economic profile of the locality.
It also conducted two study tours to Sikkim for the local youth through financial support of the Planning Department. A basketball court was also constructed though the MLA scheme. Above all the organisation has also taken up the Green Umpling Project and tree plantation throughout the locality. Regular workshops and seminars on youth development are taken up by the SSSU apart from sporting competitions for the youth.
Local legislator David Nongrum attended the function as the guest of honour while Health and IPR Minister AL Hek was the chief guest at the function.
Later the founding members of the SSSU were felicitated by Sanwat Pyngrope, the Rangbah Shnong.
