New Delhi: With internal bickering threatening party prospects in Punjab, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has called all party MLAs from the state for talks and seek their opinion on the leadership row in the state.
Former Chief Minster Amarinder Singh has been at loggerheads with PCC chief Pratap Singh Bajwa and is seeking his ouster. Congress wants to resolve the issue amicably as it is affecting the party pros-pects.
Rahul will meet them separately over the next two days and seek their opinion on how to counter the Akali-BJP combine in the wake of changing political scenario in the state. Congress MLAs have been called to meet Rahul in an alphabetical order.
Congress leaders feel that the state party leaders instead of fighting amongst themselves must unite to consolidate the party’s position in the state and reach out to the common man to highlight the “mis-governance” and cor-ruption in the SAD-BJP regime and help bring the party to power in the next elections.
Both Singh and Bajwa have already met the Congress top brass and complained against each other, with the former demanding the ouster of the PCC chief. Punjab goes to polls in early 2017.(PTI)
