Two kidnapped in Mizoram

Aizawl:Suspected militants kidnapped two persons from Mizoram’s Mamit district near the Bangladesh border on Monday, police said.
Unidentified armed men halted a truck carrying around 17 persons, all of them workers employed by Border Roads Organisation in road construction, between Chikha camp and Tuipuibari (also known as Rajiv Nagar) and kidnapped all of them at gun point.
However, 15 were relea-sed later. Two persons, identified as Hukum Singh, an overseer, and the truck driver Thangchhuaka, a resident of Aizawl, were whisked away by the kidnappers.
Mamit police led by the district SP Lalnunmawia and troops of 5th Indian Reser-ve police have rushed to the area and launched a massive operation.
A police official believed that the kidnappers would have crossed over to Bangladesh like they had always done. (UNI)
