Concern over discrimination of girl child

SHILLONG: The chairperson of Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board D K Kyndiah has stressed the need to uphold the rights of a girl child.
Speaking during the celebration of National Girl Child Day recently, Kyndiah said that a girl child is the daughter of the present day and mother of (Contd on P-10)

She also said that Meghalaya being matrilineal sees no discrimination between girl and boy.
Dr Amena Passah,  Professor, Department of History, NEHU said that the discrimination against female starts  when she is still in the  womb  through female  foeticide  and  added that it is high time to meet the challenges.
