TURA: The Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) has expressed displeasure over the collection of parking fees from vehicles by the Tura Civil Hospital authorities.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday the joint publicity secretary of the outfit, Garo Mandei Ch Marak demanded to know complete details about the formation of the Hospital Management Society including the time it came into being.
“We want to know what this Hospital management society is. Since when is the Tura civil hospital being controlled by this society, and who are its members? Is this a registered society? If so the responsible authority ought to make it public,” he said.
He said that the people of Garo Hills were an oppressed lot who are often denied the (Contd on P-10)

He said that the added inconvenience of having to pay parking fees under the circumstances by the poor people was unacceptable and illegal and termed it a ‘Daylight Robbery’.
It may be mentioned that earlier two NGOs, the AYWO and ADE had brought up the issue in the media strongly demanding that the practice is stopped. A few days later the GHSMC had also expressed its objection to the toll collection and threatened to agitate if it continued.
