London:  Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Jack Wilshere is “not a smoker” after social networking sites went abuzz when a picture of the mid-fielder popped up holding a sheesha pipe.
The 23-year-old had been previously warned by Wenger for smoking but the Frenchman Friday stood by Wilshere, saying a second of one’s life does not necessarily define an individual.
“He is not a smoker. He is sorry about what happened but he has to master his own life. One second of your life does not define who you are,” Wenger was quoted as saying by BBC.
The 65-year-old added what a player does outside the club should be his own responsibility.
“This photo has been taken at half past 12 after the Super Bowl. I don’t know what happened really. Away from the club, it is his responsibility to master his life,” he said. (IANS)
