SHILLONG: Several ANVC cadres are regularly receiving summons from the court in connection with old cases. This has irked the ANVC leadership.
The court has issued summons to some ANVC cadres in connection with some pending criminal cases, said the outfit’s  publicity secretary Arist Sangma.
As per the peace pact signed on September 24 last between ANVC and Government, the  criminal cases registered against members of ANVC for non-heinous crimes will be withdrawn by the state government, whereas criminal cases registered against them for heinous crimes will be  reviewed case by case according to the existing policy on the subject, and steps for withdrawal of such cases will be initiated by the state government.
The ANVC publicity secretary said that the organization had written to the Additional Chief Secretary in charge home KS Kropha seeking clarification on the difference between heinous   non-heinous crimes committed by the cadres.
“We are yet to receive any reply from the official”, Sangma said
According to the ANVC publicity secretary, the outfit has engaged lawyers for cadres who have already received summons. “The frequent summons may compel some of  the cadres to go back to jungle”, he said.
The ANVC leader further said that digging the past history of cadres is not wise and government should adopt ‘forget and forgive’ policy.
