SHILLONG: All the ANVC cadres will get Rs 2.5 lakh each as onetime rehabilitation package.
The State Government with the assistance from the Centre will arrange this package.
An official from the State Home Department said that before the release of fund, an exercise is being carried out to assess the number of cadres the ANVC and the ANVC (B) have.
While the State Government has ascertained that there are over 300 ANVC cadres who are eligible for the package  the assessment related to ANVC (B) is still pending as the Government is yet to get the exact number of cadres the splinter group has.
However, the mode of payment is yet to be fixed as the Government wants to ensure that there is no misuse of fund.
When contacted, the ANVC publicity secretary Arist Sangma said that the money can be put directly in the bank accounts of the cadres.
Sangma also said that the Government should initiate some lively hood programmes for the cadres to sustain themselves.
The ANVC leader said that some cadres want to join the State police, others want other government jobs. “There are many others who want to do business,” he added.
On his part, Sangma said that he wanted to do business to sustain himself and the family .
The majority of the ANVC cadres are now with the families and only a few are camping at the liaison office in Tura. However, the ANVC. B cadres are yet to go back to their families.
According to the home department official, the State Government is not keen to absorb ANVC cadres in the police department.
The peace pact signed between the Government and the ANVC on  September 24 last is silent on the nature of employment which can be provided to the ANVC cadres.
