Kingston: Former West Indies all-rounder Richard Austin died in a hospital here Saturday at the age of 60.
Austin was an enterprising right-hander, dynamic fielder who also bowled medium pace, reports CMC.
He played two Tests against Australia in 1978 without much success and was dropped after he signed for the controversial Kerry Packer series. Desmond Haynes and Deryck Murray were also dropped. Then captain Clive Lloyd resigned in protest and subsequently the entire West Indies team did likewise.
Austin also played one ODI in that Australia series and was part of the rebel tour to South Africa in 1983. (IANS)
