Sanitary landfill at Umsawli opposed

SHILLONG: The Synjuk Ki NongsynsharShnong, Silliang Umkhen has expressed shock over the decision of the State Government to go ahead with the proposed sanitary landfill at Umsawli.
The executive committee of Synjuk, which met last month, expressed its concern over the move which was strongly opposed by the people of the area.
The executive committee, on behalf of the 15 villages, reiterated its stand as expressed in the public meeting which was held on September 3, 2013, on the issue.
The Synjuk has also submitted its representation in this regard to Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
