State seeks Centre’s nod to MHIS-II

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek on Monday called on Union Health Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi and raised the issue of the Centre’s approval for Phase II of the Megha health Insurance Scheme, which has been pending with the Union government.
Hek also took up the matter of up gradation of the Rynjah State Dispensary into a full-fledged PHC and placement of a 108 ambulance at Rongjeng Block in East Garo Hills District to cover 26 villages under the Block.
Further, Hek also requested the Union Minister to consider autonomy for NEIGRIHMS in the line of AIIMS and setting up of a Nursing University at NEIGRIHMS to cater to the need of nursing students in Meghalaya in particular and the North East region in general.
According to Hek, the Union Minister gave a patient hearing and assured that his Ministry would render all necessary support to improve healthcare delivery in the State.
