Arunachal students to get scholarships by direct bank transfer

Itanagar: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Tuesday said that post-matric scholarship to the tribal students of Arunachal would be directly transferred to their accounts.
“The students should have Aadhar-based bank accounts,” he said here during a review meeting of the Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs department, an official communique informed.
He advised the state government to prioritise the schemes related to skill development for tribal educated youths for infrastructure development in health and education sector.
While emphasising the benefit of skill development schemes, Oram advocated to avail the financial benefit available to the tribal educated youths who aspire to start self-employment to avail the financial benefit provided by the National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation.
He agreed to provide ambulance or school bus to EMRS schools at Lumla in Tawang district and Bana in East Kameng district. He also assured to sanction two additional EMRS school in the state.
State women and child welfare minister Wanglin Lowangdong requested him to enhance the grants under Article 275(1) and also requested for early release of grants against various projects proposals already submitted to the ministry, the communiqué said. Oram met Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma at Raj Bhavan and discussed on various programmes under his ministry. (PTI)
