SHILLONG: Acclaimed national and international award-winning director Jahnu Barua has sought the cooperation of the respective state governments to land a helping hand to the nascent film making industry in the North East region to help it flourish.
Barua was addressing media persons on the sideline of a documentary film screening here on Wednesday.

Asked about the commercial success of regional films, he said that regional films have strong stories and strong subject and asked film makers from the region to look for global market apart from local market to bring sustainability to their movies.
He asserted that there was no dearth of talent in the North East region which has a pool of young talents who can make it big in the film industry.
He stated that film festivals should be organized to promote the aspect of film appreciation but also claimed that poor infrastructures in the region deter filmmakers from organizing film festivals here.
