SHILLONG: The movie Har Pal starring Shiney Ahuja and Preity Zinta which was done mainly in Shillong was completed, but the producer is reluctant to release the movie fearing multiple problems.
The film was supposed to be released in 2009, but in the same year, the lead actor of the movie Shiney Ahuja was dragged to court for allegedly molesting his maid, and so the film  did not see the light of day.
The producer then decided to release the movie two years later, but did not do so apparently fearing the outcome of the release since Shiney was convicted by the  Bombay sessions court ( though he later secured bail).
Adding to the problems was the allegation of  Preity Zinta made in 2011 that  the producer borrowed  money from her and refused to pick up her calls.
The comments of Preity was in response to media reports that she had no  time to promote the film and was  not bothered about its outcome.  Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, the director of the movie Jahnua Barua admitted the producer’s reluctance to release the movie.
The national award winning film director, however, did not elaborate on the problems being faced by the producer, but only said, “The producer is fearing some problems with the release but the film is complete”.
“The producer is not currently in touch with me, but I have done my job,” Baruah said.
Har Pal is a love story that revolves around two neighbours  Shiney and Preity, who plays the role of a Khasi girl. Esha Koppikkar plays Preity’s roommate. The movie also features Dharmendra.
