SHILLONG: One person died on the spot while another sustained injuries in a road accident at Mawphlang.
The incident happened on February 13, when one truck (ML-04C-2391) dashed against one motorcycle ridden by Albesten Thongni (26) at Mawphlang (EKH).
In the incident, the rider died on the spot and one pillion rider sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Driver of the truck fled away after the incident and a criminal case has been registered in this connection.
Meanwhile in another incident, one person died after a truck (AS-01FC-9951) driven by Raju Rajbongshi (20) fell into a deep gorge at Ratacherra in East Jaintia Hills. The driver died on the spot and one occupant sustained grievous injuries.
