Centre agrees for 100 pc funding

SHILLONG: The Centre has agreed to provide  100 percent funding, instead of present 50:50 system, for the important road projects in Meghalaya under Roads of Economic Importance and Inter-State Connectivity.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari and Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in New Delhi on Wednesday,
The Union Minister, while appreciating the Chief Minister for taking up a number of road projects in the State, has also asked the State Government to expedite land acquisition process in order to implement the projects at the earliest time.
Earlier, Sangma submitted a memorandum to Gadkari.
