Bomb scare near Oscar venue

A bomb scare, which later turned out to be false, shut down the busy area near the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the venue for the upcoming Oscars.
On Thursday, a man was stopped by the police for reckless driving on the intersection of Hollywood and Highland, which is not far from the Oscars venue. The man then exited his ride while carrying a propane tank. He also claimed to the officers that he had explosives in the trunk of his car, reported Variety.
The man was taken into custody while the police investigated the claim. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that there were no explosives found during the investigation. The 87th annual Academy Awards is set to take place on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre with Neil Patrick Harris as the host. (PTI)

Rick Salomon seeks annulment of marriage to Pamela Anderson

Rick Salomon is seeking a legal annulment of his marriage to actress Pamela Anderson. News comes just a week after Anderson, 47, filed for divorce from him, citing irreconcilable differences, reported TMZ online. Salomon, 47, filed the legal documents this week in Las Vegas, claiming “the marriage should be nullified because Pam deceived him.”
He “is also asking the judge to rule there is no community property in the marriage” as well as “asking the judge to deny her spousal support.” Salomon is getting help from lawyer Richard Schonfeld, who also represented Britney Spears in her Las Vegas marriage annulment. While Salomon himself has not spoken to the media regarding the matter, sources close to him claimed he “will not disclose the nature of the fraud, however they say the poker player has solid proof she bamboozled him into marrying her.” Anderson and Salomon have been married on and off since they first tied the knot in October 2007.
They got their marriage annulled two months afterwards. They rekindled their romance and secretly wed again in January 2014. In July the same year, she filed for divorce from him, but changed her mind and reconciled shortly thereafter. (PTI)

Scott Free to produce ‘The Burning Woman’

Scott Free has been signed on to produce ‘The Burning Woman’, which is expected to star Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway. The film, a drama with thriller elements, is based on an original idea by Brad Ingelsby, who developed the script with Pruss, and wrote it with Hathaway in mind, reported Deadline.
The story shows that the teen daughter of a 32-year-old woman in Pennsylvania goes missing and she is left to raise her infant grandson alone. The story is told over the course of 11 years, from the time her daughter vanishes, through the the trials-and-tribulations of subsequent years looking for closure, leading up the long-awaited discovery of the truth. Director hints at remake of ‘Now and Then’

Director Lesli Linka reveals she has held a discussion about the remake of her 1995 coming-of-age film ‘Now and Then’ with the movie’s writer. The film, which centred on one memorable summer four 12-year-old friends had in 1970, was penned by Marlene King, who has also penned TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’, reported Us magazine.
“I’m very friendly with the woman who wrote it, Marlene King, so yes, that has come up,” Linka said. “It seems to be (with) this film especially, young women have come of age on it and I love that. That was one of the reasons we made it, there hadn’t been anything done about young girls growing up,” she said.
‘Now and Then’ starred Christina Ricci, Rosie O’Donnell, Gaby Hoffman, Demi Moore, Ashleigh Aston Moore, Rita Wilson, Thora Birch, and Melanie Griffith, was written by Marlene King. (PTI)
