Five additional chief secretaries in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: As many as five Additional Chief Secretaries are at the helm of affairs of the State Government following frequent promotions and retirement of senior bureaucrats.
Recently, Principal  Secretaries P. Naik and P.S. Thangkhiew were promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretaries holding the same departments of Election and Home Huards respectively.
The other Chief Secretaries are B.K. Dev Verma (Finance), K.S. Kropha (Home) and Y. Tsering (Mining and Geology). Verma will retire on February 28.
Additional Chief Secretary S.S. Gupta, who was in charge of Taxation, retired in January this year.
