World Brotherhood Day observed

SHILLONG: World Brotherhood Day and Thinking Day was observed on Friday by the Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guides to commemorate the joint birth anniversary of the founder of the Scouts and Guides movement, Lord Baden Powell and his wife at the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides State Training Centre, Umtyngar.
The theme for the year celebration was “To Develop a Global Partnership for Development” which is one of the core priorities of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
PK Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Education, who is also the Vice President of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, inaugurated the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the State Training Centre, Umtyngar on the occasion. He also felicitated Silver Elephant Award winner Honsen Lyngdoh and Silver Star Award winner R. Swer for meritorious service to Scouting and Guiding.
Recipient of the Team India, Messenger of Peace Award, which is a flagship activity of World Scouting, Gary James Nongrum was also felicitated during the programme.
