ATM theft: Two persons arrested

JOWAI:  Police have arrested two persons in connection with the stealing of an ATM of the State Bank of India (SBI) installed at Ladrymbai from East Jaintia Hills on Saturday.
One of the arrested persons who is presently under the custody of Ladrymbai police was identified as Md. Rafiqul Islam of Huhabildoloni village, Barpeta, Assam. The other person was taken by Shillong Police and his name is not available with EJH Police.
Md. Rafiqul is working as a welder in an auto workshop at Ladrymbai. He was the one who cut the thick  ATM inside his workshop.
He claimed that Hassan Ali, Amir Ali and three others have paid him Rs. 16000/- for opening the ATM with his welding machine.  It may be mentioned that the SBI  ATM at Ladrymbai was taken away from the booth by unknown miscreants a month ago. Later, police could locate the ATM at Mookhep village. Rs. 9 lakhs was stolen from the machine
