New Delhi: Security of several VIPs including former Union Ministers and Speaker Meira Kumar has been totally withdrawn while the elite ‘Black Cat’ NSG commandos provided to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh may be replaced by CRPF.
Surprisingly, Saradha scam accused Matang Sinh, who was recently arrested by the CBI, continues to enjoy Z-plus security in 14 states including seven Northeastern states, official sources said.
At a meeting recently, chaired by Union Home Secretary LC Goyal, it was decided in-principle to withdraw NSG commandos from Raman Singh, who faces Maoist threat, and hand over all his security to CRPF, which is deployed in large numbers in Chhattisgarh.
RJD Supermo Lalu Prasad’s NSG cover may also be withdrawn soon and replaced by either of the para-military forces, the sources said, adding Lalu will get Z-plus security in Delhi and Bihar only.
An order in the two cases is yet to be issued. (IANS)
