JHADC forest check point ransacked

JOWAI:  A group of 15 to 20 people allegedly ransacked the Forest check point of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) located at Lumkya, Nartiang in West Jaintia Hills District on Friday morning.
Sources informed that the group suspected to be from Nartiang village came to the check point at around 11:00 pm on Thursday and threatened the staff on duty.
“On Friday at around 8:40 am, the same group of people came back and asked the staff on duty to leave the check point,” JHADC sources claimed.
Sources also informed that the office of the forest check point was ransacked after the staff fled the scene.
“All documents including receipt books and cash of Rs. 50, 000 were found missing from the check point office,” a JHADC source said.
