Royals rule the roost as 4 from the club make it to the final round
Shillong: The U-Dream project by Ronnie Screwwala owned U Sports, finished off the one-day stint of its inaugural nationwide scouting programme on a high note here on Saturday, with a total of five youngsters from the city making it to the next round of the tournament.
The shortlisted youngsters have one final selection they must qualify through, before the final 30 are announced.
Leading club Royal Waningdoh FC led the challenge as the club’s young players proved their mettle with four of them making them to the next round. The chosen ones from the club are Naorem Mahesh Singh, Kynsailang Jyrwa, Rheadulf Nongnang and Phrangki Buam. Joining these four would be Shillong Lajong FC’s Samuel taking the total tally of the city to five.
The shortlisted youngsters are all set to compete nationally for a shot at their football dream.
The tournament will now move onto the rest of the country before the final leg of selection from which the top 30 will be selected.
The tournament is designed to identify the finest footballing talent in the U-15 category. The chosen players will move on to a round of 30, winners of which will be offered a lifetime chance to play and train in Germany under TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, a German association football club, where they can avail facilities like indoor courts, state of the art gym, modern physiotherapy, study and game rooms.
The youngsters will also avail the facilities rendered by a Youth Development Centre, which comprises of high-quality turf pitches and includes all necessary components for a ‘successful infrastructure’ of a modern football club.
