SHILLONG: The KSU has yet again opposed the decision of the State Government to go ahead with the implementation of the National Population Register (NPR) in the State.
“We oppose this move since post the High Court ruling, the Rangbah Shnong can no longer be part of this exercise,” KSU general secretary Augester Jyrwa said in a statement issued here on Monday.
He added that until the “confusion over the role of the traditional heads is resolved”, the Union would appeal to the Government to put the  implementation of the NPR on hold.
Jyrwa also appealed to all the traditional heads in Khasi, Jaintia Hills to ensure that no enrollment takes place in their respective jurisdictions under the NPR till the impasse is over.
