Ghar vapasi to continue till conversions are banned:Adityanath

Rohtak (Hr): Firebrand BJP MP Yogi Adityanath has stoked a fresh controversy saying VHP’s ‘Ghar Vapasi’ programme will continue unless conversions are banned and claimed India’s problem was “vote bank politics fuelled by jehadi fervour”. “Conversions spoil communal amity in the country. It should be banned. If conversions continue, I feel ‘Ghar Vapasi’ programme will continue,” Aditynath, who is BJP’s Hindutva face, said at a meet organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday. The Hindu outfit has come under criticism for its programme to “reconvert” people who it claims had changed their religion from Hinduism. He also alleged that “anti-national activities breed” in “Muslim areas” and said the “secularists” should answer his questions. “India’s problem is not malnutrition or poverty. India’s problem is vote bank politics fuelled by jehadi fervour. In Hindu society everyone feels safe, every mother and sister feels safe. There is guarantee of safety of each and every religious sect here. “But why does a Muslim area feel insecure? Why do anti-national activities breed there? Why do they give space to jehadi fervour and anti-India slogans. “In an India-Pakistan cricket match if India wins, they mourn if India loses they celebrate by bursting crackers. Why? Have you ever asked these questions to the secularists of the country,” Adityanath said. (PTI)

Gangrape case: Danish woman summoned as witness on July 1

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday issued fresh summons to a 52-year-old Danish woman, who was allegedly gangraped by eight persons here last year, to appear before it on July 1 for recording of her testimony. The court issued the summons again as the earlier one, issued on January 13, could not be served upon the woman to secure her presence as a prosecution witness and Delhi Police had sought some time for calling her here. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Kaveri Baweja directed that fresh summons be issued to the woman, who is residing in Denmark, as per the guidelines of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) which require a processing time of at least three months. “I have been informed by the investigating officer (IO) today that some correspondence is going on with the authorities concerned at Denmark. “It is directed that fresh summons be issued to the victim as per the guidelines of MEA which require at least three months time for processing. It is directed that summons be issued to the victim for July 1,” the judge said. The police, in its charge sheet, had said that the eight persons, all vagabonds, had robbed and gangraped the Danish tourist at knife-point on the night of January 14, 2014 after leading her to a secluded spot close to the Divisional Railway Officers’ Club near New Delhi Railway Station. Girl accuses man of raping her repeatedly

Faridabad: An 18-year-old girl, a graduate student, has accused a man of raping her repeatedly, filming the act and threatening and blackmailing her with it. According to the police, the girl, daughter of a milk-seller, had gone to deliver milk to the house of one Virendra, a resident of Dabua Colony here on January 13. Virendra was alone at home and called her inside and offered her a glass of water, which, after drinking, she lost conciousness. When she regained her senses, she found herself nude with Virendra looking at her. Virendra told her that he had raped her and had also filmed the act. He threatened that he would upload the video on internet if she disclosed about the incident to anyone. The victim said that Virendra had earlier also raped her on many occasions and used to blackmail her and demand money from her every now and then, and also used to issue her threat to life. The girl also said that her engagement with another man had been broken as Virendra had sent her obscene pictures to the groom-to-be. Scared, she did not reveal about it until the rape in January, after which she disclosed about the incident to her parents. (PTI)
