State under watch for swine flu

SHILLONG:  In the wake of rising swine flu cases in the country, the Meghalaya government on Tuesday asked people not to panic saying  that the government has sufficient medicines and is fully equipped to deal with the disease.
“We have made all the arrangements to deal with it (H1N1 virus) and have sufficient amount of medicines,” said Dr RO Budnah, Joint Director of Health Services, said on Wednesday.
While there is no reported case of swine flu in Meghalaya, the official said the State Health department is gearing up to meet any eventuality of the outbreak.
The State Government has alerted health authorities to prevent any possible outbreak of swine-flu in the State and the Health department have asked all healthcare centres to remain alert for any flu-like symptoms to report immediately for necessary follow up to prevent any loss of life.
