Oppn MPF recalls GNC MLA’s contributions

SHILLONG: Condolences poured in following the sudden demise of Chokpot legislator Clifford Marak.
The Opposition, Meghalaya People’s Front consisting of UDP, NPP and Independents expressed shock over the death of the GNC leader.
“The state has lost a leader who will always be remembered for his courage and dynamism. His active participation in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly speaks volumes about the love that he had for the people and the state,” the MPF said in a joint statement.
“The people of Garo Hills owe him a great debt for his untiring efforts for the struggle towards the creation of Garoland. In his death, we have lost not just a colleague, but a friend who will always be remembered for his cheerfulness and positive outlook and whose memories, we will always cherish for the rest of our lives,” the MPF added.
The Opposition also offered condolences to his wife, children and other family members.
UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh also condoled the death of the veteran leader. “I have lost a friend. His contribution as a legislator and a political leader will always be remembered,” Mawthoh said. Meanwhile, UDP secretary Allantry F Dkhar said that the sudden demise of the great political leader is a great loss to the State.
He also said that the party will greatly miss him since he was part and parcel of the Opposition alliance in the State Assembly led by the UDP.
Dkhar also informed that the party will soon meet to condole his death.
